Addicts in Prison

Addicts in Prison by Jay Goodman

I have been talking about how the federal Bureau of prisons have implemented a program that gives out synthetic heroin to prisoners. I am sure that most logical, thinking person would believe that this is crazy. How the prison system could think this is a solution for prisoners to get off heroin is beyond me. Especially when you still have them on a drug that’s just as addictive. All that happened is you’ve taken them off of a drug that had them addicted for years, and put them on another highly addictive drug that will keep them addicted for the rest of their lives. Can someone tell me how this even makes sense?

Could it be that the people running these prisons see that they will make a fortune keeping prisoners on Suboxone? I mean trust me, there is no way in hell that the federal prison system is going to give us synthetic heroin to thousands of prisoners for free. The federal bureau of prisons are doing exactly what the corrupt doctors and pharmaceutical companies have done for decades. Make billions of dollars off of addicts addiction to opioids. This is absolutely a fact, no one can make me believe anything different. The doctors and pharmaceutical companies see Americans thirst for all the lights. And they have handed it out like candy to everyone who wanted it. And to make my point, why would a prison system run by our government hand out synthetic heroine to everyone who wanted it? Remember, this is not some person who just got arrested, and is coming off of drugs, and the prison is trying to wean them off of heroin. The federal bureau of prisons is putting the men and women on synthetic heroin called Suboxone, which is a highly addictive drug. The prisoners who have been lining up like cattle to get it, have been incarcerated for years, or in some cases decades.

So, says the program started, the prison system has taken men and women, and turn them into junkies. What could they possibly say to justify this? No matter what they say, there could never be a logical explanation to take someone who has been off of heroin for years or decades, and put them on synthetic heroin.

I am a man who is in prison myself, and even I don’t understand the logic in this. In my opinion, there is only one logical answer, the federal bureau of prisons is doing exactly what the doctors and pharmaceutical companies did in the past, which is make millions of dollars off their position.

I am working on how many people are on Suboxone through the entire federal system, but I am sure the numbers have to be in the tens of thousands like I pointed out before. There are 1,600 prisoners where I’m at here. And there are already over 500 taking it. So, there is 122 federal prisons in the United States, can anyone imagine how many people are taking it? And this is a new program, so I can only imagine how many people will be taking these two or three years from now.

I am sure that there will come a day when the majority of the prison population will be hooked on Suboxone. Thanks, of course, to the federal Bureau of prisons. I have wondered whose bright idea it was to put the prisoners on a drug that is highly addictive? Why understand there is a big problem with opioids in our country, and I know there is a problem with heroin around America, and inside the prison system. I see how over 100,000 people are dying every year because heroin is being cut with fentanyl. But even with that being said, how do they believe putting prisoners on another addictive drug is the answer? Wouldn’t it be a better idea to spend the money that’s being spent on getting the prisoner high on rehabilitating the addicts in here? I am only assuming the federal Bureau of prisons goal is to release the men and women that’s in their care back into society who are going to be an asset to our society. If the men and women in here have been getting high on illegal drugs, or the drugs, the prison system is giving them, how will they be fit to go back into society? And there is only one logical answer to that question. They won’t be. The human spirit has extraordinary abilities, and was created to sore. There is nothing more devastating than the cycling of the human spirit. Addictions take a grip on people from within. It sucks the strength from them and renders the addict so useless in any worthwhile cause.
I have watched the men in prison through my 17 years, and it’s sad to see how low they will go. People who are enslaved by addiction. Have a week will. They’re mine is plagued with doubt m, fear, and all manner of negative thoughts. They have no self-control and are not capable of taking the initiative. Those who are paralyzed by addiction, follow sheepishly, wherever the flock leads. And they will do anything to avoid taking a good, long, and hard look at themselves. I have heard people in here say, “why do people in here worry about what the hell I’m doing?? When I have heard men say this, I have always thought, I don’t believe anyone is worried about what you’re doing. I believe they see that you have a lot better in you, then, getting high all day every day. Some people do you get on the addicts in here, but for some, they hate to see weak, minded people. Addicts have more excuses than one could ever imagine. And for a strong-willed person, it’s almost impossible for them to except this week will shit. The prison system should be using this time to rehabilitate this thinking. Not supplying these idiots with drugs! Like giving prisoners drugs, all you are doing is saying it’s okay to spend your lives getting high. Hey, and the federal government is going to support you, and make sure you can stay high every day.

Another way to look at this is, there are countless of people in prison that the feds put here for drugs. Not big-time drug dealers, but people who were arrested with ounces. The federal government in one hand says this is against the law. But in the other hand, it’s okay to use this highly addictive drug while you’re in here. Why is my question? Because you’re the one supplying it.

It’s absolutely freaking crazy that no one has taken this to the news that works here. How can anyone with a half of a brain believe it’s okay to put people in prison for drugs, then give it to them while they’re in here? The men and women in here we’ll leave prison just as addictive as the day they arrived. And what’s even worse, is there are a lot of people who never had a heroin problem, or were addicted to any kind of opioids. But thanks to our federal government. There are all kinds of people who are signing up for the Suboxone program who will leave prison full blown addicts. And once again, we have the federal government to bank. These years or decades that the men and women are incarcerated are the most important times in their lives. It should be the prison systems number one goal to teach these idiots to not be addicts, not turn them into one.
