Hope

By Jay Goodman

After 15 plus years inside the Texas prison system I looked at all the different prisons I went through and have wondered how can anyone say this is a place of rehabilitation? Many times, I’ve looked out of my cell door at all of the different races sitting around the day room and thought about what’s going to happen to them when they leave? Some have several years in, others decades, some over a quarter century. What tools did the Texas Department of criminal justice give these men to leave prison and succeed in the world?

My experience inside the Texas prison system is one of disbelief at the overall treatment of the men and women. Make no mistake this prison system is designed to keep every person behind bars for the rest of their lives. Many people will say this book is crazy, the Puppetmasters will point to the different programs and act like they are doing everything they can to better the overall prisons. You see, I have witnessed firsthand the act they put on. These people care less about following guidelines or following any state or federal laws. They are nothing more than criminals, who will lie, manipulate, falsify, cheat, steal, and kill to keep their criminal organization thriving. I have learned that nothing or no one matters, the only thing that’s important is that they keep the prisons full to capacity, and keep their factories up and running. I have also witnessed cover up after cover-up, from stealing from the staff, to setting prisons up, so many assaults you could not imagine, to murders. I’ve written about many in past chapters. I ask the people reading this what type of actions does this sound like? Don’t this sound like the actions of a criminal organization? If you look at the different criminal groups from the past such as the Italian mafia, to the Irish and Jewish gangs, to the more present such as the Mexican cartel. Law-enforcement has used the RICO act, or conspiracy, to put these criminals away for life. But over the last 15 years I have seen the Texas Department of criminal justice employees plot, plan and commit every crime these games have committed. The only difference is they work for the Texas prison system. I cannot help but wonder why millions of dollars are spent tracking these types of criminals down but yet right here in Texas the guards and ranking officers and wardens seem to be exempt from the same punishment. Surely the federal government doesn’t believe just because these individuals work for a prison system they are above the law? What if one was to look at the history of the Texas prison system you would quickly learn that from the very beginning it’s been plagued with abuse at every level. Criminal activity has been at the heart of this place and nothing has changed.

These are organized criminals that have been allowed to exist for hundreds of years. And just like the mafia and the cartels have raise their family members to be criminals, the Texas prison system has done the same. As I have written about at the start of this book, at every prison throughout Texas he will see family members working at each prison. I have seen prisons with mom, dad, and their son. I have seen prisons with six or seven people who were related. The elder family members will teach the younger ones had a steal and manipulate the system. They will teach their family members how to take it vantage of the prison system, they will be taught how to steal, how to set up prisoners, how to sell drugs, how to assault inmates, and how to get away with murder. Doesn’t this sound exactly how the different criminal organizations teach their family members? Make no mistake, the Texas Department of criminal justice is a criminal organization. There is no difference between them then the mafia or cartel. I have gone to 10 different prisons over the last 15 years, and there is not one place that is not corrupt. Many prisoners have told me how they’ve seen inmates beat, starved, or murdered at the prisons they came from.

I have heard story after story from prisoners to have seen everything I’ve written about throughout this book. Almost every person I’ve met who’s got 10 years or more in prison has some serious sociological issues. They are about as close to being rehabilitated as I am visiting Mars. I do get these different prisoners have committed crimes and were sent to prison. They owe a debt to society and I understand this. But shouldn’t these prisoners leave prison better than they arrived? As I’ve asked many times if prison is not about rehabilitation, what is it for? If one feels the state doesn’t owe these prisoners anything, don’t they owe it to society to make sure the prisoners that get released are ready to fit back into society? Why they may not be light, the Texas prison system should have a moral obligation to society to ensure the men and women who get out have every tool available to them to succeed. But of course, the Texas prison system don’t care about rehabilitating prisoners. In fact, they want prisoners were soft and when they arrived. Why? To ensure they come back. Many people in prison suffer from depression, feelings of hopelessness, and despair. Everywhere I went I could see how the Texas prison system affected the prisoners. Everyone needs help in life to survive, and to thrive. Once you take all hope away from a person slowly but surely, he or she begins to die. No one can live without hope. The Texas prison system is well aware of this, and this is why they begin from day one to break everyone’s spirit. The puppet masters understand this, so soon as every man comes through the door, they shave his head, and shave off all the facial hair. They say it’s for health reasons or contraband but they don’t shave the women’s hair. It’s used to degrade the men, and to take away who they are.

Why I do understand the need for control of every prison, believe me I get this. But To degrade and humiliate people is not the answer. For every situation in life there is an answer, but for the people running the Texas prison there’s no need to think of solutions to bed at the prison system because it’s being run just like they want it.

Remember, if they implement change it might hurt your criminal organization. Or it might expose them for all they’ve done and continue to do.

If the federal government ever did a thorough investigation of the Texas prison system, I am talking at every level from the guards up, there would be so many indictments that they’d have to build more prisons to put everyone.

The Texas prison system was built to enslaved and destroy every man and woman that goes there. To take away all hope and take away their dreams. The puppet masters want prisoners to give up and to leave prison full of hate and despair. Without any doubt, change has to start from within, each prisoner hast to decide what they’re going to do with their life.

But a lot of people who go to prison like the ability to look at themselves and see there is a better life outside waiting for them. Then when they come here they get abused every way possible, and all that does it make them worse. For me, the last 15 years have been an eye-opening experience. I just think God that I had enough sense to read and study books that enlightened me I feel blessed that God open my heart and mind to the power of change. And because of that I have tried my damnedest to help many prisoners around me. Through these years I’ve also saw many of my fellow inmates change, and start studying and seeing there’s hope. I have imagined if the prison system implemented these types of programs how it would help change tens of thousands of prisoners. If you help a person realize they can change, then you’ve given them hope. And once a person has hope, it’s endless to Things they can accomplish.
