Phillip Hall

Phillip Hall is a Fort Worth criminal defense attorney, trial consultant, and mitigation specialist at TexasMexico Law. Originally from Hermosa Beach, California, Phillip was raised in the Los Angeles area by Mexican-American parents before relocating to Texas, where he built a practice focused on defending individuals accused of serious criminal offenses across the state. Fluent in both Spanish and English, he regularly represents clients and families navigating the intersection of criminal defense and immigration consequences.

Phillip earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science and International Relations from UCLA before attending Texas A&M University School of Law, where he developed a passion for criminal defense, client storytelling, and trial advocacy. During law school, he was President of The Innocence Project, experiences that helped shape his belief that every person deserves to have their full story understood and presented with dignity.

Known for his trial-centered approach to defense, Phillip has built his practice around courtroom advocacy, persuasive storytelling, and intensive trial preparation. Over the course of his career, he has handled and tried numerous serious felony cases, including murder and capital murder allegations. Phillip has secured acquittals in multiple murder cases that proceeded to jury trial, including an acquittal in a capital murder case involving allegations carrying the possibility of life imprisonment without parole. He has also consulted on several capital murder cases that resulted in acquittals for the accused.

Phillip has additionally worked on complex post-conviction and clemency matters receiving national media attention, including serving as one of the attorneys involved in preparing and submitting the presidential pardon application presented to President Donald Trump on behalf of Joseph Maldonado-Passage, widely known as “Joe Exotic.”

Phillip has been selected to Super Lawyers for 2025 and 2026 and was previously recognized as a Texas Rising Star from 2018 through 2024. He has also been recognized multiple times by Fort Worth Magazine as a Top Attorney in Criminal Defense, including recognition in the magazine’s 2025 edition.

In 2024, Phillip received the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association Rising Star Award, an honor recognizing lawyers who demonstrate exceptional leadership in criminal defense and service to the defense community.
