I just finished chapter about what I believe was one of the things that held prisoners back which is laziness. Don’t
get me wrong, I do put a lot of blame on the prison system. It’s a shame that prisons are still being run the way they
are in the United States. And it’s even more of a shame no one is trying to do anything to try and change things.
I see how a lot of cities crime problem is so bad, I have wondered what it’s going to take for it to be fixed? Plus,
with all of the criminals, who we see getting arrested today has anyone noticed that almost all of them have been to
prison? It’s not just a few, I mean almost every single person we see on TV getting arrested has been to prison. This
trend has been going on for decades, and it’s getting worse. I have never seen anyone really talking about this. Yes,
the news will tell its viewers. The man who just got arrested for murder, was just released from prison. But I haven’t
seen any kind of investigation on why. I have been looking at Fox News and seeing where this lady was kidnapped off
the street while she went on her morning run. They caught the man who did it, and the police found her body if you
days later. This story made world news because she was a young mother of two small children and a kindergarten
teacher. The man who did this head just serve 20 years in prison.
It’s really sad how the story ended, but truthfully, this same story has played out almost every day across the United
States, and as each year passes, it’s getting worse.
Once again, I have wondered why nobody has taken a serious look at why do people leaving? Prisons are worse off than
when they got here? Because if someone ever did a real investigation, they would quickly see the prison system is set
up for failure. It breeds criminals.
Rehabilitation is a word that prison officials like to throw around to make it look like you’re doing a good job. But
in all actuality, the prison system is flooded with drugs, gangs, and violence. And as I pointed out in past chapters,
now the prison system is giving out synthetic heroin to anyone who wants it.
Where is the rehabilitation? The criminals come to prison and are still sitting in here using drugs, or selling drugs.
The gangs are still involved in criminal activity, in prison, and out of prison. So, let’s say a man comes to prison
for methamphetamine or fentanyl. Let’s also say this man is not a drug dealer, but that he was arrested for possession
of these drugs. And because of the federal mandatory sentencing on these two drugs, he gets sent to prison for 10
years. Now let’s say another man steals, a car, and he takes it to another state. Because he crossed state lines, he
will be charged and sentenced to federal prison. One man is a drug addict in possession of drugs, while more than
likely, the man with the stolen car, is stealing the car to sell it to someone or to strip it for parts. Why? Because
he needs money for drugs. Now neither one of these men are gangsters, they are drug addicts. But now they arrive to
prison, and the drug gangs and corruption is waiting for them. A lot of the times these new guys don’t even realize
what’s waiting for them. First thing the different groups do is pull these new guys to the side. They’ll talk with
them a while and see what type of men they’re dealing with. If they see the new guys are weak, meaning, they don’t
understand how prison is run, they will try to use them in every way possible. The gangs will try and see if their
family sends them money, and if they do, they’ll offer them drugs. At first, the gangs, all appear to be their
friends, their number one goal is to get them in debt. The gangs don’t care if they can’t pay for it upfront. They
just want to keep a steady flow of money coming in. Of course, the gangs will try to also get these men to join their
gang, even if they don’t like them. They will use these men as crash dummies. A lot of these men will be given a shank
and told to either stab someone or kill someone maybe, they will even be forced to fight for their life someday, if a
riot happens. You see it doesn’t matter if you’re in a gang or not, if a race riot kicks off. Men will come to kill
you just because of the color of your skin. What I am now trying to show is most people that come to prison are not
killers, they are turned into one. I’ve told the story of a man I met at the United States penitentiary in Hazleton
West Virginia, who everyone called Kentucky. He went there with a 10-year sentence, but he’s been there almost 30
years. This was a young man who wasn’t a violent offender, who was sent to prison for possession of drugs, and was
forced to murder someone or be murdered.
I had the opportunity to talk with him for hours. He was smart enough to figure out that the gangs in administration
headset him up to kill a guy they want it out of the way. But by the time he came to this realization, he had already
killed many people. I asked him one day. “how many people have you killed?? he said, “ jay, I’ve read a lot of books
about serial killers, and honestly I’ve killed more than some of them.?
Think about this, this is what the prison system is, causing, they have a loud these prisoners to breed killers. Young
men come to prison, and have no way out. The prison system itself has always allow the gangs to control each prison.
There is no such thing as rehabilitation, it’s survival. I see crime is out of control around our country. It’s
getting worse every year, and it will continue to get worse until someone has enough intelligence to step in here and
create a different system.
It’s not very often in life that you will see a human being that has absolutely no empathy for others. But over the
last 17 years of incarceration, I have seen countless of men who, in my opinion could murder children without any
trouble whatsoever. Just this year, we seen a man who escaped off a transport bus in Texas. He broke into a house and
killed a grandfather, and four of his grandchildren. Two or three of them were small kids. I am not some bleeding,
heart idiot, who believes these poor prisoners have it rough. No, I am writing this, because I have seen firsthand
what happens to the men that have lived through the madness of the prison system. I also want people to see why a lot
of these prisoners leave here and do what they do. There is definitely a need for prisons. And if the federal prison
system doesn’t change their prisons, America is going to see our country get worse with each passing year.
